NACC Nonthaburi Investigates 60-Million-Baht Futsal Field Case
The Nonthaburi office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) conducted a preliminary on-site investigation into a futsal field project worth 60 million baht at Somdet Phra Srinakarin Park. The project is suspected of improperly reallocating budget expenses to procure expensive floating platforms.
Thitiporn Suwannaklang, Director of the NACC office in Nonthaburi Province, along with the Anti-Corruption Task Force and representatives from Pak Kret City Municipality, including the Director of the Bureau of Public Works, collectively inspected the site of 60-million-baht futsal field project after it was reported in the online media. The project reportedly used funds from teachers' salaries and transferred them from the budget of preschool and primary schools, amounting to 16 million baht, among 10 other sources including wastewater treatment budget, totaling a reallocation of 60 million baht.
From the on-site investigation of the aforementioned floating futsal field, it was found to be a sports facility constructed within Somdet Phra Srinakarin Public Park, Srisaman Road, Ban Mai Sub-district, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. Preliminary information from the Pak Kret City Municipality representatives suggests that this project involved the reallocation of leftover budget. The municipality had to transfer the leftover budget to new expenditure items and initiated the construction of the futsal field in the area of Somdet Phra Srinakarin Park, Nonthaburi Province. The entire budget of the project is 59 million baht. Community consultation with residents has already been completed before the commencement of the project.
Previously, the Nonthaburi office of the NACC had requested relevant documents for the said project and is in the process of meticulously reviewing these documents. During this field visit, the Director of the NACC office in Nonthaburi Province and the Anti-Corruption Task Force also requested additional documents for further scrutiny on related issues.
