NACC Phitsanulok Pushes National Anti-Corruption Master Plan

The Phitsanulok Provincial Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) organized the third meeting of the Provincial Anti-Corruption Steering Committee for 2024 to drive the implementation of the national anti-corruption master plan. The meeting focused on promoting anti-corruption curricula and establishing model "white zones" as corruption-free areas for prevention and monitoring. The goal is to achieve transparency with tangible results.

Somyos Kasi, Director of the Phitsanulok NACC office, revealed that the main goal of the third meeting of the Provincial Anti-Corruption Steering Committee for 2024 under the national anti-corruption strategy is to ensure transparency in the public sector, free from corruption and misconduct. This goal will be achieved by focusing on “human” development and system improvements to prevent corruption. The initiative aims to instill ethical values across all sectors of society, promoting a sense of integrity and honesty. Additionally, it encourages the development of anti-corruption innovations tailored to each public agency's specific context, challenges, and dynamics. Enhancing the efficiency of anti-corruption mechanisms and processes is also a priority.

An important aspect of the plan is raising awareness among public officials, and fostering a culture where personal and public interests are clearly distinguished. The NACC also seeks to instill a sense of responsibility and morality in all sectors, creating widespread awareness and a collective shame toward corruption in all its forms.

During the meeting, discussions were held about awarding certificates to agencies that supported and promoted the anti-corruption curriculum for the 2024 fiscal year. The recipients included the Phitsanulok Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. Additionally, plaques were presented to model "white zone" networks for corruption prevention and monitoring in 2024, including the Phitsanulok Anti-Corruption Civil Society Network and the Phitsanulok Primary Educational Service Area Office 2.

The establishment of model "white zones" aligns with Section 63 of the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, which mandates that the state must promote, support, and educate the public about the dangers of corruption in both the public and private sectors. It also requires effective measures and mechanisms to rigorously prevent and eliminate corruption and misconduct, as well as mechanisms to encourage public participation in anti-corruption campaigns, whistleblowing, and information sharing, all under state protection as prescribed by law.

Collaboration with the public in preventing and eliminating corruption is vital, as it promotes public participation in decision-making and tangibly addressing corruption. This effort requires the support of all sectors, especially the creation of target networks at the central, regional, provincial, district, and local levels. These networks provide platforms for collaborative action, forming a social network that collectively monitors corruption. This approach drives the implementation of the national anti-corruption master plan under the strategy for Phitsanulok province, ensuring transparency with concrete results.
