NACC Joins Forces with Anti-Corruption Division Police, AMLO, and SAO to Prevent Corruption in Procurement

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is intensifying efforts to combat corruption in the procurement process by collaborating with three key partners: the Anti-Corruption Division Police of the Central Investigation Bureau, the State Audit Office of the Kingdom of Thailand (SAO), and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO). This integrated approach aims to enhance financial and procurement oversight in the public sector.

Mr. Niwatchai Kasemmongkol, Secretary-General of the NACC and spokesperson for the NACC,  stated that the "Integrated Collaboration for Preventing and Combating Financial and Procurement Corruption" initiative involves cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Division Police, the SAO, and AMLO. This effort aims to streamline the investigation of procurement-related corruption and identify individuals involved in such misconduct. Observations indicate that the annual value of public procurement is immense, and over 80% of complaints involve procurement issues.

The NACC’s provincial offices, in collaboration with civil society groups such as the Strong - Anti-Corruption Club, monitor high-value or special procurement processes to ensure transparency.

This collaboration will enable a systematic approach to preventing and addressing corruption in public sector procurement. The SAO plays a crucial role by providing key financial data for procurement projects and, facilitating a thorough examination of financial processes. This includes handling complaints through various channels, such as the NACC's hotline 1205, timely investigation procedures, financial tracing, and asset confiscation of corrupt officials. These measures will be implemented strictly and swiftly to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

This initiative aims to elevate the transparency of public procurement projects, build private sector confidence in government bidding processes, promote fair competition, and ultimately benefit the nation. It also enhances the country's investment image, positively impacting the overall economy and ensuring taxpayers' money is used for maximum national benefit.
