NACC Phichit Partners with STRONG Club to Monitor High-Budget Projects and Prevent Corruption
The NACC Office in Phichit Province, in collaboration with the STRONG Club – Sufficiency Mindset Against Corruption, is driving anti-corruption efforts by monitoring two projects with a combined budget exceeding 12 million baht. The focus is on ensuring transparency in project operations, with all procedures being open to scrutiny.
Mr. Warapong Intamong, Director of the Phichit NACC Office, revealed that as part of the continuous drive to prevent corruption, the office has conducted on-site inspections of high-budget projects. These inspections were carried out in partnership with the STRONG Club – Sufficiency Mindset Against Corruption in Phichit Province and STRONG Club – Sufficiency Mindset Against Corruption in Bang Mun Nak District. The initiative aims to deter and reduce corruption cases in the area by evaluating the effectiveness of surveillance and preventive measures and reporting the results for the fiscal year 2024.
The inspections focused on two specific projects: the Tha Bua Water Delivery and Maintenance Project, involving the renovation of reinforced concrete bridges along Canal C.1 at km 133+220, km 136+000, km 140+570, and km 141+400 in Ban Noi Subdistrict, Pho Thale District, Phichit Province. The contractor for this project is Thaikoon Development Co., Ltd., with the contract starting on May 29th, and ending on November 24th, covering a period of 180 days and a construction cost of 11,780,000 baht.
The second project is the Dong Seth Water Delivery and Maintenance Project, involving the construction of a concrete lining for Canal C.54 over a distance of 5.45 kilometers in Thapman Subdistrict, Taphan Hin District, Phichit Province. The contractor for this project is Prawin Construction Limited Partnership, with the contract starting on June 5th, and ending on November 1st, covering a period of 150 days and a construction cost of 1,599,620 baht.The purpose of these inspections was to gather factual information and monitor the progress of the projects, including every step of the operational procedures. Additionally, the NACC Office in Phichit Province provided recommendations and observations regarding project operations, particularly on the disbursement of fuel. They emphasized that fuel disbursement documentation should be clear and detailed, including the disbursement details, travel information, and approval by the authorized person. Furthermore, in cases where labor is hired directly, there must be clear procedures to prevent fraudulent claims and unauthorized payments. Regarding the disbursement of project materials, it is imperative that all actions comply with regulations and laws, ensuring that materials are used efficiently and effectively.The NACC Office will continue to monitor these projects until completion to prevent and deter corruption in the area. This will ensure that the projects adhere to government regulations and laws, maintaining transparency and accountability. Moreover, it will promote public participation in monitoring the use of state budget funds by government agencies. The office plans to expedite further monitoring of budget utilization by state agencies in Phichit Province, especially local administrative organizations
