NACC Trang Office monitors groundwater project, aims to prevent abandonment
The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission of Trang Province (NACC Trang Office) is inspecting the 157-million-baht groundwater project, covering 13 locations across Trang province, aiming to prevent project abandonment, drawing lessons from the past.
On January 21, 2026, Mr. Bandit Khanasuwan, Director of NACC Trang Office, assigned the corruption prevention unit to conduct on-site inspections of the groundwater supply system construction project under the Community Groundwater Security Development Project of the 2025 fiscal year. Trang province received from the project a budget of 79,844,700 baht, covering 13 key locations.
During this on-site inspection, the NACC Trang Office focused on the area of Phrong Chorakhe Subdistrict, Yan Ta Khaw District, where there are three sites at Ban Lam Hai, Village No. 3; Ban Khok Sai Nuea, Village No. 4; and Ban Ho La Kla.
The NACC Trang Office provided recommendations to relevant agencies and focused on key issues to close loopholes for corruption and budget wasting. The office stressed that land ownership must be clearly defined, and construction sites, especially those in temple and school areas, must have proper written approval from the landowners to prevent future disputes.
The NACC Trang Office also emphasised professional contract management. Relevant agencies should supervise contractors to strictly adhere to project schedule to prevent abandonment or delays that could affect the public.
Furthermore, relevant agencies should proactively publicise the project's background and benefits to the local population.
The office also stressed the importance of clarifying the process with local leaders regarding project handover. Trang Province has had numerous abandoned projects, which were a waste of taxpayer money. This should be a lesson learned to prevent a recurrence, and the NACC Trang Office will not allow these project sites to become abandoned ruins as has happened before.
