NACC Surat Thani inspects construction of road connecting Tapi bridge
The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s Surat Thani Provincial Office (NACC Surat Thani Office) inspected the construction of the road leading to the bridge over the Tapi River, with a budget of 30,840,000 baht.
On May 5, 2026, Mr. Netipol Chumyuang, Director of the NACC Surat Thani Office, assigned corruption prevention and corruption investigation officers to monitor the progress of the construction project of the road leading to the bridge over the Tapi River in Phra Saeng District, Surat Thani Province. The project involves a 2.07-kilometer stretch of road with a 1.00-meter wide and 0.20-meter thick layer, along with traffic signs, road markings, and the installation of 30 poles of streetlights.
The project is being undertaken by Nongkri Engineering Partnership Limited, with a construction period of 210 days, starting on February 6, 2026, and ending on September 3, 2026.
During the site visit, the Director of the Surat Thani Rural Highway District, along with relevant officials and the contractor, provided information that the road was originally an asphalt road and is a main route used by residents and transport operators to travel to Krabi Province. Due to its long use, the road has deteriorated, becoming riddled with potholes despite numerous repairs. Therefore, a plan was devised to improve the road’s ability to withstand heavy vehicle traffic and extend its lifespan. This involves constructing a road near the approach to the Tapi River bridge to enhance its long-term usability.
Currently, the project is approximately 23.13% complete, which is 11.24% ahead of schedule. One phase of work, comprising six installments totaling 6,390,040 baht, has been delivered. The remaining work includes coarse sand base layer, reinforced concrete pavement, traffic sign installation, and lighting system installation. It is expected that the remaining work will be completed according to the contract schedule.
The village chief stated that the project has received excellent cooperation from the villagers, as they had always wanted a new road constructed for daily transportation.
The NACC officers advised that if the contractor completes the work faster than the contract deadline, the governmental agency must strictly adhere to all relevant regulations and laws, and inspect the quality of the work delivered by the contractor to ensure it meets the specifications and conditions of the contract. If any work is found to be non-conforming, appropriate action must be taken. The agency must require the contractor to make all necessary corrections before payment can be made.
The NACC Surat Thani Office will closely monitor and oversee the project. However, if the public suspects any corruption in the project, they can report it to the NACC Surat Thani Office at telephone number 077-282172 or via their Facebook page.
