NACC visits Chonburi school to inspect lunch and milk programme
The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, Region 2 (NACC Region 2 Office) conducted a random inspection of the school lunch and milk programme at Wat Samet School (Wuttisunthornwitthaya), focusing on the proper procurement process and nutritional quality.
On August 4, 2026, Police Major General Arun Amornviriyakul, Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC Region 2 Office, assigned the Region 2 Anti-Corruption Coordination Group to conduct a random inspection of the school lunch and milk programme at Wat Samet School (Wuttisunthornwitthaya) in Chonburi Province.
Initial inspection revealed that the school has 145 students and receives a lunch budget of 22 baht per student per day. The meals are provided through a contracted catering service on a term-by-term basis, with monthly contracts. A committee is appointed to select menu items and assess quality, oversee food preparation, inspect supplies, and monitor reporting. The menu is determined by the teacher in charge of the school lunch program using the Thai School Lunch (TSL) programme as a guideline.
However, the school reported problems using TSL, specifically that some menus were not feasible and did not align with the children's preferences. Therefore, adjustments must be made as appropriate.
Regarding management issues, the school believes that budget considerations and practices should be adaptable to the specific needs of each area. This is because the cost of food ingredients has increased, and the Ministry of Education’s policy of providing two dishes for four days and a single-dish meal for one day is difficult to implement, as children prefer single-dish meals.
As for school milk, it is allocated by the Ang Sila Municipality. The school receives pasteurized milk daily from Monday to Friday, based on the number of students in the student data collection system. The committee has verified that the storage methods are appropriate and meet standards. In cases where the school enrolls more students, the school uses an averaging method, taking into account students who are absent and those who cannot consume milk.
The NACC Region 2 Office continues to listen to all aspects of management issues and emphasizes the importance of the contracting process, its accuracy, and the quality and nutritional value of the food that students should receive.
