The National Anti-Corruption Commission Thailand (NACC) has urged the public to provide corruption tipoffs via its six channels, announcing that the NACC accepted over 4,000 complaints over the past six months.

NACC Secretary-General Niwatchai Kasemmongkol said during the period of six months from 1  October 2022 to 29 March 2023, the NACC accepted a total of 4,099 corruption case complaints. 3,486 of which (85.05%) had been inspected and the other 613 complaints (14.95%) were being handled.

50.30% of the total complaints are complaint letters, 22.7% official letters and 20.30% anonymous letters. The rest are complaints filed on websites, the social media, and in person at the NACC offices nationwide.

The NACC would like to encourage the public to help combat corruption and eradicate it from the country eventually, the Secretary-General said. He noted that the fight against corruption took cooperation from all relevant parties, including the general public who could act as watchdogs to look out for corruption in the public sector.

The NACC provides six complaint-filing channels including 1) complaint letters to be sent to the head office or provincial offices of the NACC, 2) in-person at any office of the NACC; officers will record the complainant’s testimony as evidence, 3) the website www.nacc.go.th by clicking “Complaint Center” and then “Online Complaint,” 4) phone at 1205 or the phone numbers of the provincial NACC offices, 5) a corruption watchdog network at www.nacc.go.th/we and 6) complaint boxes located at the provincial NACC offices.

Mr. Niwatchai stressed that everyone could be a part of corruption prevention and suppression by keeping an eye on suspicious corruption acts. The NACC would inspect all complaints and handle them with legal procedures to protect the benefits of the country, he said.
