NACC Region 4 – Sakon Nakhon Conducts Special Budget Expenditure Inspection for Ban Khok Sa-ard Area 2 Projects

The National Anti-Corruption Commission Thailand (NACC) Region 4 Office has executed proactive operations on the ground to monitor corruption, focusing on special budget expenditures for the 2023 fiscal year in Region 4, Sakon Nakhon Province. Non-standard grounding stakes for electric poles were discovered, and immediate corrective actions have been ordered.

Deputy Secretary-General Pratheep Juthasorn of NACC Region 4 commanded the Corruption Prevention Unit of the NACC Region 4 Office to collaborate with the Sakon Nakhon NACC Provincial Office. They inspected the Rae Sub-district Municipality in the Phang Khon District, uncovering two key projects requiring monitoring. These include:

1.) The project to develop a tourist viewpoint at the Nam-Oon River in Ban Khok Sa-ard, Moo 6, Rae Sub-district, Phang Khon District, Sakon Nakhon Province. This project installed 145 sets of innovative Thai solar street lights, with a total budget of 9.73 million baht.

2.) The project for asphalt concrete road construction from Ban Rae, Moo 1 to Ban Som Sa-ard, Moo 12, Rae Sub-district. The road will be 5 meters wide, 2300 meters long, and approximately 0.04 meters in thickness. The road surface area will be around 11,500 square meters. Additionally, 60 sets of innovative Thai solar street lights have been installed, with a total budget of 4.3 million baht.

Upon inspection, the NACC Region 4 Office found that 10 solar street lights had already been installed in the asphalt road construction project. However, the grounding stakes for these poles were not implanted up to the standard depth of 1.5 meters. The responsible agencies have been asked to urgently review and correct this oversight, as it could impact the stability of the electric poles and the safety of the local population. The NACC Region 4 Office, along with the local Sakon Nakhon NACC Office, will continue to monitor progress on both projects to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and the appropriate use of the budget.
