NACC Appoints Committee to Study “Digital Wallet Policy”

The National Anti-Corruption Commission of Thailand (NACC) has resolved to appoint Ms. Supa Piyajitti as the chairperson of the committee to study the “Digital Wallet Policy”, alongside inviting qualified individuals to join prior to conducting the study and proposing recommendations.

Niwatchai Kasemmongkol, NACC Secretary-General and Spokesperson, disclosed that the NACC has approved the appointment of a committee to study and conduct hearings on the government's policy regarding the policy to provide a 10,000-baht stipend through the “Digital Wallet” system, as proposed by the Committee for the Monitoring and Assessment of Corruption Situations due to the high public interest in the issue.

          Niwatchai said that Police General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, the President of the NACC, had signed the order appointing the committee to study and conduct hearings on the government policy. This committee is charged with the responsibility and authority to gather and study data, analyze information concerning the Digital Wallet policy to find preventive and corrective measures against corruption, present opinions, propose measures, recommendations, or suggestions to prevent corruption in relation to the Digital Wallet policy, coordinate with committees, sub-committees, external agencies, and concerned individuals to support the study of information regarding the Digital Wallet policy and propose to the NACC to appoint a sub-committee or individuals to carry out operations as deemed appropriate by this committee, and to conduct hearings from related parties concerning measures, opinions, or suggestions to prevent corruption in the Digital Wallet policy.

The committee comprises Ms. Supa Piyajitti, a commissioner of the NACC as the chairperson. Additionally, Ms. Suwana Suwannjuta, a commissioner of the NACC, serves as the deputy chairperson. Other distinguished experts serve as committee members, including Associate Professor Montri Sokatiyanurak, Associate Professor Sirilaksana Korman, Associate Professor Ajana Waikwamdee, Associate Professor Issara Sereewatthanawut, the Comptroller General or a representative, the Attorney General or a representative, the Secretary-General of the Office of the Auditor General or a representative, the Secretary-General of the Council of State or a representative, the Secretary-General of the Election Commission or a representative, the Governor of the Bank of Thailand or a representative, the Secretary-General of the Thai Bankers' Association or a representative, the President of the Federation of Thai Industries or a representative, the President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce or a representative, deans of the Economics faculties from three institutions of higher education including Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, and Kasetsart University, Mr. Poomsiri Damrongwut, Ms. Phanee Lawsakul, Mr. Suthinan Sariman, with participation similar to the Secretary-General of the NACC, the Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC, the Director of the Office of Proactive Measures and Innovation, as well as the Director of the Bureau of Corruption Barometer of the NACC serving as a committee member and the secretary.
