NACC Chonburi Monitors High-Risk Areas for Corruption to Ensure Transparency and Efficient Budget Use
The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Office in Chonburi Province, in collaboration with the Strong - Anti-Corruption Club, conducted onsite visits to monitor high-risk areas for corruption. The inspections focused on two projects in Pattaya and Laem Chabang to promote transparency in state budget expenditure and ensure efficient use of funds for the benefit of the public.
Mr. Kittipong Klibyaem, Director of the NACC Office in Chonburi, stated that this visit was a collaborative effort with the Strong - Anti-Corruption Club in Chonburi and relevant agencies. They inspected the progress of two projects in Pattaya City and Laem Chabang, consisting of:
- Eastern Sports Stadium Construction Project in Pattaya City, Chonburi Province: This large-scale project has been ongoing for over 15 years and is currently receiving significant media attention as Pattaya City pushes the project forward with a budget of 329.8 million baht. The project has a total duration of 820 days, with 305 days already completed, leaving 515 days remaining. The construction progress is ahead of schedule by 4.08%, equivalent to 33.48 days. If completed as intended, the project will provide sports and recreational facilities for the residents of Pattaya and nearby areas, as well as stimulate the local economy.
- Sanitary Landfill Inspection in Laem Chabang Municipality, Laem Chabang District, Chonburi Province: Following complaints from residents regarding land use and waste management by the Laem Chabang Municipality, the NACC investigated the landfill site. The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning had allocated the land for waste disposal since 1999, and in 2022, transferred it to the Treasury Department. The municipality reported systematic waste management, including vehicle checks at the landfill. Due to the large area under its jurisdiction, Laem Chabang Municipality has contracted three private companies for waste collection. The NACC Office in Chonburi will continue to gather in-depth information and has urged agencies disbursing state funds to prioritize transparency and manage projects efficiently to maximize public benefit.
The NACC's efforts aim to foster transparency in budget expenditure and ensure that projects are managed to their full potential for the benefit of the community.
