NACC Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Corruption and Transnational Crime at the 34th CCPCJ Session in Vienna, Republic of Austria
On 21 May 2025, Police Major General Arun Amornviriyakul, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), led the NACC delegation and represented both the NACC and the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand in delivering a statement during the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ), held in Vienna, Republic of Austria.
In his statement, Police Major General Arun reaffirmed Thailand’s strong commitment and continued efforts in combating corruption and transnational crime. He called upon Member States to ratify both the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC, 2003) and the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC), emphasizing that parallel implementation of these conventions is crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of global crime prevention.
Throughout the session (19–23 May 2025), the NACC delegation, led by Police Major General Arun and accompanied by the Director of the Bureau of International Affairs and Corruption Investigation and relevant officers, actively engaged in multiple missions in cooperation with other Thai agencies. These included co-organizing an exhibition under the theme “Digitalizing Pre-Trial Criminal Justice: A Path to Security and Transparency” with the Office of the Attorney General, and observing negotiations on draft resolutions in collaboration with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), whose delegation was led by Mr. Kamolsit Wongbutnoi, Deputy Secretary-General of AMLO.
On this occasion, the Director of the Bureau of International Affairs and Anti-Corruption Cases held bilateral discussions with relevant agencies to enhance international cooperation in support of the NACC’s foreign and international missions. These included discussions with Police Major General Suraphan Thaiprasert, Commander of the Foreign Affairs Division, Royal Thai Police, regarding extradition cooperation, as well as with Mrs. Sinee Sangkhao Pamornkool, Senior Prosecutor of the International Affairs Department 2, Office of the Attorney General, to coordinate on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
