The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) office, Region 1, has initiated its joint mechanism project against corruption, specifically targeting areas prone to corruption (STRONG: Together against Corruption – TaC) for the fiscal year 2023, in collaboration with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). The project aims to organize communication lines across Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan provinces while closely monitoring involved officials' operations. If neglected, it might result in dereliction of duty, aiming to minimize potential threats to the public.
Chadarat Anak-orn, the Assistant Secretary-General of the NACC Region 1 and spokesperson for the NACC Region 1 office, revealed that the communication line organization, part of the anti-corruption mission, is driven by the STRONG: Together against Corruption – TaC project for the fiscal year 2023. The problems with the communication lines include illegal installations, non-standard setups, and lack of removal of defective or unused lines from electric poles, causing disarray and danger to the public, impacting visual appearance, potential fire hazards, and endangering pedestrians.
Any agency responsible for communication lines that neglects this issue might be neglecting its duties and potentially favoring telecommunication operators. Therefore, the NACC Region 1 office has driven the organization of communication lines since 2021, with plans to expand across Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan provinces in the fiscal year 2023, while following up on the progress in six pioneer areas in Nonthaburi province. The problematic routes were submitted to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) for discussion, and the principles for organizing the communication lines were approved on November 23, 2021.
The NBTC proposed plans to support costs associated with the organization of the communication lines, including
1) costs for the removal and adjustment of communication lines for installation of communication joints,
2) costs for removing unused communication lines after the joint installation,
3) costs for installing new lines to the communication joints,
4) costs for installing new lines before connecting to the communication joints,
5) costs for destroying waste communication lines including transportation costs to waste disposal companies, and
6) costs for transporting communication lines to storage areas before waste disposal.
If the public is affected by problems with communication lines, they can report through Line @nbtc1200 or the hotline number 1200.
