The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) led its executive team to participate in the "Anti-Corruption Day 2023" event, presenting the concept of "WHAT THE FACT? - Just Curious? Search ACTAi Now." The aim is to encourage public participation in monitoring corruption and to influence the new government's anti-corruption policies.
NACC President Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, along with Secretary-General Niwatchai Kasemmongkol, led the NACC office's executives, officials, and staff to join the event, organized by the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand. The gathering took place at the Krungthep Apiwat (Bang Sue) central station.
The Anti-Corruption Day, an annual event organized by the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand, aims to raise awareness, stimulate society to recognize the issues of corruption in Thailand, and to create various forms of collaborative efforts to eradicate corruption.
This year's concept, "WHAT THE FACT? - Just Curious? Search ACTAi Now," aims to introduce tools that will facilitate public involvement in scrutinizing corruption. It promotes transparency, accountability, and the sharing of information for public benefit. This year's event is seen as an opportunity to send a message to the new government, led by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Srettha Thavisin, who graced the event to present his vision and government's anti-corruption policies.
As part of the event, a demonstration was arranged for the "ACT Ai" website, a platform that allows the public to easily investigate corrupt activities. The demonstration was hosted by well-known IT influencer Pongsuk Hiranyapruek, who explained how to use the website.
Every September 6th of each year is designated as "National Anti-Corruption Day," commemorating Dusit Nonthanakorn, former Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand. He dedicated his efforts to arousing Thai public consciousness against corruption until it became a national agenda.
The spirit of National Anti-Corruption Day aims to create awareness of the corruption problem that is a severe menace and deeply entrenched in Thai society. It has long-term detrimental effects on the economy, society, and national development. It is the duty of every Thai to collaboratively address this issue, refusing to allow fraudulent individuals to gain power or standing in society. Therefore, each year’s event places importance on awareness of what is changing and inspires strength at all societal levels, generating robust power to collectively eradicate corruption from society and Thailand.
