NACC joins forces with local agencies to tackle illegal truck practices in Bueng Kan

The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s Bueng Kan Provincial Office (NACC Bueng Kan Office), joined forces with local agencies to drive the enforcement of land transport and traffic laws to handle problems related to illegal truck practices and restore road safety in Bueng Kan.

On April 2, 2026, Mr. Thanyapat Pramuanwit, Director of the NACC Nakhon Phanom Office, acting as the Director of the NACC Bueng Kan Office, assigned the anti-corruption prevention unit, in collaboration with the Bueng Kan transport office, local police, highway and rural road offices, and Seka Weighing Station, to hold a meeting to plan joint operations to enforce the Land Transport Act of 1979 and the Road Traffic Act of 1979.

The aim is to integrate cooperation in determining solutions to the problem of illegal trucks on the roads, which affects public safety, national infrastructure, and public confidence in government law enforcement.

The meeting agreed on policy proposals regarding common offenses such as overloading, not covering vehicles with tarpaulins, dropping materials on the road surface, not driving close to the left edge or improperly using the right lane, and modifying vehicles without permission from the registrar, which are all behaviors that can increase the risk of accidents, damage the road, and in some cases may be related to corruption or dereliction of duty by government officials.

The meeting also followed up on recommendations to prevent corruption related to overloaded trucks, which the NACC previously submitted to the Cabinet in 2021. These recommendations included full enforcement of the law, increased transparency in the law enforcement process, and promoting public participation in reporting information.

The meeting considered statistics on arrests and prosecutions from the past period, which will be used to create a comparison of before and after results. The meeting set a timeframe from April to July 2026 to achieve the goal of creating a transparent and safe transportation system sustainably.
